Srinagar: The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Future of Jobs Report 2025 has highlighted significant growth in agricultural employment between 2024 and 2030.

The recently-released report specifically says that while agriculture sector would stand at No 12 among top 14 job creation sectors; farm workers, laborers, and other agricultural roles are projected to be among the fastest-growing occupations during this period.

The shift towards sustainable practices is increasing demand for farming occupations, as societies prioritize environmental sustainability and food security, the report says.

It also estimates that expanding working-age populations in lower-income regions are driving growth in essential sectors, including agriculture, to meet rising food demands.

As the sector evolves, there is a pressing need for upskilling and reskilling initiatives to equip workers with competencies in sustainable farming practices and emerging agricultural technologies, the report suggests

The Future of Jobs Report 2025 by the World Economic Forum (WEF) involved an extensive consultation process globally.

803 companies across 27 industries and 45 economies were surveyed. These companies represent a workforce of over 11.3 million employees, providing insights into global employment trends and the future of work.

The report also incorporates insights from policymakers, academic researchers, and representatives from various labor organizations and trade unions to ensure a holistic perspective.
