JKPICCA team meets Commissioner Agriculture, discusses key sectoral issues

Srinagar: Bashir Ahmad Naik, the newly elected President of the Jammu and Kashmir Fruits and Vegetables Processing and Integrated Cold Chain Association (JKPICCA), held a detailed meeting with Shailender Kumar IAS, Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production Department. The discussion focused on sector-specific issues, with an emphasis on sustainable development and safeguarding farmer interests.

One of the pressing concerns raised during the meeting was the improper disposal of rotten apples into the Rambi Ara stream. Mr. Naik assured the Commissioner Secretary that the CA storage fraternity will take collective steps to ensure proper adoption of environmentally sound waste disposal practices. In response, Mr. Kumar pledged the government’s full support in facilitating sustainable waste management solutions.

The future of the CA storage industry and the need for updated policy frameworks were also discussed. Both parties underscored the importance of creating a supportive ecosystem to strengthen the industry while prioritizing farmer welfare.

JKPICCA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable practices and ensuring the long-term growth of the horticulture sector. The association will continue working closely with stakeholders to create a responsible value chain that enhances farmer income and drives regional prosperity.
