GCC hails J&K’s return to democratic governance; urges statehood restoration

Srinagar: The Group of Concerned Citizens, J&K (GCC) in a meeting held here has welcomed the return of democratic governance in Jammu and Kashmir after the recent Assembly elections and expressed hope that the Central Government will take appropriate measures soon to restore the statehood in full so that benefits of democracy and democratic governance are avaliable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement released here today to Ziraat Times, the GCC urged the Central and the UT Governments to take “necessary steps to fulfill the democratic aspirations of the people of J&K”.

The GCC welcomed the recent statement of the Chief Minister that his Government “will not like to waste even a single day in its pursuit of ensuring public welfare and public good”. The GCC appreciated the resolve of the new Government to work for the welfare and development of all regions /sub-regions and all sections of people of J&K.

The GCC will soon seek a meeting with the Chief Minister to project various issues of public importance.
