SDA demolishes five hotel structures in Sonamarg

Sonamarg, Aug 02: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ganderbal Gulzar Ahmed Khan, who also holds the additional charge of CEO Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA), conducted a massive demolition drive of several hotels that had come up illegally despite a ban imposed by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

The demolition drive underscores the authority’s commitment to enforcing court orders and preserving the natural beauty and environmental balance of the area, an official said.

More than five structures were demolished during the operation today. In the areas where JCB machines could not reach, CEO Gulzar Ahmed Khan instructed employees to manually demolish these illegal structures to ensure full compliance with the law.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the CEO emphasized that the demolition was necessary to uphold the law and prevent further illegal developments.

He also warned that strict action would continue to be taken against violators to ensure compliance with legal and environmental standards in Sonamarg.

The CEO warned violators that if anyone raises illegal structures here in Sonamarg the property along with the land will be seized

Meanwhile, the demolition drive was carried out with the help of Sonamarg Police including SHO Turk Zahoor.
