JK Hoteliers’ Club concerned over Sonamarg hotel fire; seeks Admin support in preventing  future incidents

Srinagar: The J&K Hoteliers’ Club, and its Sonamarg chapter, has expressed deep concern over the recent fire incident at Hotel Glacier Heights in Sonamarg. Chairman of the JK Hoteliers’ Club, Mushtaq Chaya, President of the Sonamarg chapter, Farooq Hafiz, and Secretary General Tariq Ghani have conveyed their profound anguish and concern regarding the impact of such incidents on the hotel industry, specifically, and tourism in general.

President Farooq Hafiz of the Sonamarg chapter urged the honorable LG, the District Administration of Ganderbal, and the CEO of the Sonamarg Development Authority to permit the construction of water reservoirs in the destination. This proactive measure would enable timely response to any future mishaps, thereby effectively mitigating such incidents. He further appealed to the government to promptly take necessary steps in this regard to safeguard the destinations from further harm.

Additionally, Mr. Hafiz, President of the Sonamarg chapter, urged the district administration to make requisite arrangements for the damaged hotel’s restoration to its former glory. Glacier Heights Sonamarg is a valuable asset to the destination and should be supported in reclaiming its charm.
