News Agencies

Doha: Twelve people, including six passengers, on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Ireland were injured due to turbulence, Dublin Airport said on Sunday, in a second such incident reported this month.

Flight QR017, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, landed safely, shortly before 1 pm Dublin time (1200 GMT), the airport said.

“Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including Airport Police and our Fire and Rescue department, due to 6 passengers and 6 crew [12 total] on board reporting injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey,” Dublin Airport said in a statement.

All passengers were examined for injuries, and eight of them were hospitalised. “Flight operations at Dublin Airport were unaffected and continue as normal this afternoon,” the airport added.

The incident took place five days after one person died and many injured due to severe turbulence on a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore.
