Drabu sahab handled finance when Beigh sahab was Finance Minister: Javed Beigh reacts to corruption allegations

Srinagar, Mar 11 (RNA) : Terming the allegations of taking “commission”, “unfortunate and unfounded”, newly-joined National Conference leader and former MLA Baramulla, Javid Hassan Baigh on Monday challenged his uncle and former Deputy CM Muzaffar Hussain Baigh to prove the allegations, or else “be ready to face him in the court of law.”

Speaking to RNA over phone, Javed Baigh denied the allegations of having taken commission in lieu of release of funds and said, if the (Senior Beigh) was “true and honest’ in his accusations, he must bring those to fore from whom He (Javed ) had taken the commission.

He cautioned Mr. Baigh of legal action in case the latter failed to prove the allegations. “I was his PRO in 2002. Twenty Two years have passed by, and he never said anything like this. Had I been corrupt why didn’t he remove me from the post or sent me to the jail.? I continued to be his associate even thereafter like during his parliament election campaigning in 2014 and most recently during his spouse safeena Baigh’s campaign in DDC elections. If I was corrupt in 2002 and he knew about my corruption, why didn’t he disassociate himself from me during his parliament campaigning and safeena’s election.?” questioned Javid Baigh. Adding, “There are now only two options left. Either he proves the allegation or retract from his statement, else, I would be forced to serve him a legal notice”. Javid Beigh told RNA.

He also alleged, that Muzaffar Baigh had no idea about finance and would never attend his office in the civil secretariat during his tenure as finance and planning minister.

“Mufti sahab was fed up with him, he would never attend the office, instead preferred to stay back at home. He had no idea about the finances, and was there only for the signatures whereas, Haseeb Drabu would deal with the finance and Mufti sahab would take care of planning himself”, alleged Javed Beigh.

The former MLA also alleged, that he tried to reach out to Muzaffar Baigh and the close relatives in the family till late midnight on Sunday in order to ask for the withdrawal of the statement so that relations within the family do not strain further, however, -according to him-“my phone number was blocked by him.” He further said, that he would soon be revealing many things that were not in the public domain till now.

He also negated the allegations of spending lakhs of rupees for joining the National Conference and said that, “Omar Abdullah is not like him and is a man of the principle”. He said, people stand by him and shall senior Beigh enter into the electoral fray, he would see how many people stand by him.
