Srinagar, Feb 17: Assistant Drug Controller Srinagar has undertaken spot checks of several pharmacies in Srinagar and highlighted the importance of regular special drives to ensure they comply with key requirements, including CCTV cameras, digitised billings and maintenance of records of NRX or scheduled drugs.

Assistant Drug Controller Srinagar Reema Gulzar, said they are conducting special drives regularly and are checking whether CCTV cameras are installed, digitised billings are enabled and if they have records of NRX or scheduled drugs.

“The installation of CCTV cameras is important, and about 40 to 45% of chemists have a digital billings system,” she said adding they have sealed about 10 to 12 shops in two days for not installing cameras.

She added that they have shut down the operation of shops for one to two days and have not sealed them, saying it is a warning for them as they have to install cameras.

She said that among these shops, some were not having proper records of NRX drugs and they have given them few days to shop chemists to follow the requirements.
