Srinagar, Feb 16: Most parts of Jammu & Kashmir are likely to receive heavy to moderate snowfall and rainfall between coming Sunday and Thursday due to a large western disturbance cloud system.

The analysis of multiple data by Ziraat Times suggests that the main snowfall and rainfall activity in the plains is likely between Sunday and Tuesday. While most upper karewa areas of Kashmir region, Pirpanjal region, including upper Poonch-Rajouri areas, upper parts of Kargil, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Banihal, Doda, Udhampur are Reasi are likely to receive between one to four feet to snowfall, the data available as of now suggests that Kashmir valley plains may receive heavy rainfall and moderate snowfall during these days.

Here is the detailed outlook –

Sunday, 18 February – Snowfall will occur in upper parts of almost whole J&K and rainfall in plains.

Monday, 19 February – Again, snowfall is likely again in upper parts of Kashmir valley and upper Chenab valley and Poonch-Rajouri areas. Snowfall is also likely in most north Kashmir parts of Kupwara, Karnah, Bangus valley, Machil, Bandipora, Gurez, upper rafiabad, and parts of South Kashmir including Pahalgam, Kulgam and Shopian districts, particularly in Verinag, Damhal Hanjipora, Kapran, Pir ki Gali, Bafliaz and Sinthan Top areas.

Tuesday, 20 February – On Tuesday snowfall is likely early morning in most North Kashmir and South Kashmir areas. Towards the afternoon, snowfall will occur in most South Kashmir and central Kashmir areas including Srinagar city. Snowfall is also likely to cover most of the upper Chenab, Upper Pirpanchal areas and other winter zone areas of Jammu division like ramban, Banihal, Doda, Udhampur and Reasi. Kargil, Drass, Zanaskar and parts of Ladakh are also likely to experience moderate to heavy snowfall.

Wednesday, 21 February – While the cloud system will largely move away and weaken, some precipitation may occur in parts of Kashmir valley.

Thursday, 22nd February – Similarly, isolated precipitation may occur in plains and upper parts of J&K.

Area-wise outlook for snowfall:

North Kashmir areas of Baramulla, Rafiabad, Sopore, Bandipora, Lolab Valley, Razdan Pass, Gurez, Kupwara, Sadhna Pass are likely to receive rainfall and snowfall ranging between 6 inches feet to 4 feet.

Central Kashmir valley plains, including Srinagar city, Zabarwan range, Dara-Harwan, Dachigam Park and Mahadev mountain areas, Tral-Shikargah areas, Ganderbal, Kangan, Sindh valley and Sonamarg are likely to receive 6 inches to 3 feet of snowfall.

The Southern parts of Kashmir valley in Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts, from Verinag, Pahalgam, Kulgam, Damhal Hanjipora, Kapran, Shopian, Pir ki Gali, Bafliaz areas would receive between one foot to 4 feet of snow.

Pirpanjal mountain range of upper Poonch, Rajouri and karewa areas in Budgam, Pulwama, Baramulla districts along the range from Yusmarg, Gulmarg and Kandi Baramulla would receive 1 foot to 3 feet of snowfall.

Bhaderwah, Kishtwar sub regions, upper Doda, Ramban, Banihal, Sinthan Top, Margan Top and Wadwan valley would receive snowfall between 1 feet to 3 feet.

Jammu plains are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during this period.
