Kashmir Tourism Dept to enhance spot inspections of hotels, houseboats

Srinagar, Jan 19: In a bid to enhance the tourist experience and maintain the highest standards of hospitality, the Tourism Department in Kashmir is going to intensify surprise visits to hotels and houseboats to assess the services offered to tourists, an official said today.

“This initiative aims to ensure that visitors to the valley are treated to a seamless and enjoyable stay, with a focus on quality services and adherence to government-approved rates”, said a senior official in the tourism department Kashmir.

He told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), “Our priority is to create an environment where tourists feel welcomed and their needs are met with the highest standards of service. To achieve this, we are going to intensify surprise inspections to evaluate the facilities and services provided by hotels and houseboats.”

The official said that the surprise visits involve thorough assessments of various aspects of the hospitality industry, including cleanliness, safety measures, and the overall guest experience.

The inspections are designed to ensure that establishments comply with the prescribed standards set by the government, he added.

The official emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency in pricing, stating, “Tourists should not be subjected to overpricing or hidden charges. We are actively monitoring and ensuring that all establishments adhere to the rates issued by the government. This not only protects the interests of tourists but also promotes fairness within the tourism sector,” he said.

The senior official added that the tourism department continues to work closely with stakeholders in the hospitality industry to address any issues identified during surprise inspections promptly. —(KNO)
