
Jammu, Jan 16: The B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture students at SKUAST Jammu marked Fresher’s Day in the conference hall on the Chatha campus.
The newly established Faculty of Horticulture and Forestry enrolled in its third batch this year, and seniors organized this event for the newcomers. Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J, served as the Chief Guest, encouraging students to work diligently in the promising field of Horticulture in J&K UT and take ownership of their institute as they are the ambassadors of SKUAST-J. Prof. K.K.Sood, Dean of Horticulture and Forestry, commended the students, while Prof. Dr Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean of Student Welfare, appreciated their efforts. Prof. Parshant Bakshi, Head of the Division of Fruit Science, urged students to make the most of this golden period, emphasizing the importance of character development. The second-year students showcased a fashion show, musical chairs, and dance performances for their juniors, adding fun to the festivities.
Games were organized for the freshers, and Mr. Abhay and Ms. Vedika were crowned Mr. Fresher and Miss Fresher, respectively. The organizers extended their gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture and Forestry
