Handicrafts Dept inaugurates 10-day “Craft Exhibition” at Gulmarg

Srinagar, Nov 21: A “Craft Exhibition” was today inaugurated in Gulmarg wherein an exhibition-cum-sale of handicraft products is in progress.

The 10-day exhibition,  organized by the Department of H&H Kashmir, will showcase the finest crafts from Kashmir. 20 stalls displaying artifacts of various Handicrafts and Handloom sector have been set up at the exhibition with the objective to provide market linkage to the artisans and to help boost handicraft sector in the grassroots level. The department is encouraging the people to come forward and avail various schemes and facilities extended by the department.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Director Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah.  Speaking on the occasion the Director expressed the view that the exhibition would give artisans a suitable marketing platform to sell their products directly to the buyers and will further give the tourists opportunity to get a glimpse of the rich art and craft of Kashmir.

The Director H&H inspected the Stalls and interacted with the grassroots level artisans who have been provided rent-free space by the Department of Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir to sell their products directly to the buyers at this prestigious spot.

Besides, Assistant Director Handicrafts/Handloom Baramulla along with other senior officers from the department were present during the inaugural of the event and Assistant Director concerned is overseeing the proceedings at the fair.
