Sopore, Aug 27: Fayaz Ahmed Malik, popularly known as Kaka Ji, was re-elected as the President of Sopore Fruit Mandi on August 26, 2023.
His supporters held major celebrations at Sopore Fruit Mandi on Saturday evening as the news broke that Mr Fayaz has won.
Speaking to Ziraat Times, Mr Fayaz said, “I am grateful to the people for reposing their faith in me. I will work hard to live up to their expectations.”
“I will focus on improving the marketing and branding of Kashmir’s fruits. I will also work to address the challenges faced by the fruit growers and dealers, such as the lack of cold storage facilities and the high cost of transportation”, he said
Mr Fayaz is a fruit grower and businessman from Rafiabad, Baramulla district, and has been associated with the fruit trade for over 30 years.
Mr Fayaz is a strong advocate for the rights of fruit growers and dealers. He has been vocal about the challenges faced by the sector, such as the lack of cold storage facilities, the high cost of transportation, and the weather-related disruptions. He has also worked to improve the marketing and branding of Kashmir’s fruits.
In his previous term as President of Sopore Fruit Mandi, Kakaji made some major achievements. He played a key role in the establishment of a cold storage facility in Sopore, which is expected to reduce the post-harvest losses of fruits. He also worked to promote the export of Kashmir’s fruits to other countries.
His supporters see Kakaji’s re-election as President of Sopore Fruit Mandi is a testament to his popularity and his commitment to the fruit trade.
