KHARA-KHAROF Combine resolve to address ‘mounting economic challenges’

Srinagar, July 6: In a historic move for Kashmir’s hospitality sector, the two majorĀ  organizations – Kashmir Hotel and Restaurants Association (KHARA) and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Federation (KHAROF) have merged to form KHARA KHAROF Combine. The merger was approved by members of both organizations at their annual general meetings.

A working group of 28 members, 14 from each organization, will be formed to oversee the merger process, a statement received by Ziraat Times said. The working group will be responsible for finalizing the terms of the merger and ensuring a smooth transition.

The first office bearers of KHARA KHAROF Combine have also been elected. They are:

  • Mauzam Bakshi, Chairman
  • Gowhar Maqbool, Ist Vice Chairman
  • Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, 2nd Vice Chairman
  • Tariq Mir, Convenor
  • Vikram Madan, Co-Convenor
  • Ghulam Jeelani, Treasurer
  • Irfan Ahmad Bhat, Publicity Secretary
  • Abdul Wahid Rather, Co-ordinator

The Chairman of KHARA KHAROF Combine, Mauzam Bakshi, thanked the working group for their hard work and dedication. He also assured members that the new organization would strive hard to resolve the mounting problems facing the hospitality sector in Kashmir.

“The merger of KHARA and KHAROF is a significant development for the hospitality sector in Kashmir. It is hoped that the new organization will be able to represent the interests of the sector more effectively and advocate for its needs”, the members noted.
