Amarnath Yatra resumes from Pahalgam base camps after 3 days; 6000 pilgrims remain stranded on Srinagar-Jammu highway

SRINAGAR, Jul 9: The Amarnath yatra resumed on Sunday from Panjtarni and Sheshnag base camps after remaining suspended for three days due to inclement weather in Kashmir, officials said here.

Officials said that Yatra travel on the Jammu-Srinagar highway remains largely suspended for the third consecutive day on Sunday due to bad weather cconditions and the road collapse near Ramban.

Authorities on Sunday also stopped a batch of devotees at the Jammu Base camp due to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

Following the suspension of the Yatra, 6,000 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were stranded at Ramban, officials said.

Meanwhile, the Army has sheltered more than 700 Amarnath pilgrims at its camp in Qazigund in Anantnag district after they were stranded due to heavy rainfall in the valley.
