National Conference on Organic Farming: Prof. Parshant Bakshi delivers lead lecture

Jammu, June 10: Prof. Parshant Bakshi,  presently working as Head, Centre for Organic and Natural Farming of SKUAST-Jammu, delivered a Lead lecture on Organic Farming: A Holistic Approach towards Sustainable Fruit Production in a three day National Conference on Natural and Organic Farming for Ecological, Economical and Nutritional Security held at CSK HPKV, Palampur under the aegies of Organic Agricultural Society of India (OASI).

The conference aims to promote and discuss the importance of natural and organic farming methods for achieving ecological balance, economic sustainability, and nutritional security.

Dr. Bakshi highlighted upon the initiatives taken by Centre Government for promotion of Organic and Natural farming in different parts of country for which horticulture has to play a pivotal role as India’s position is the world’s largest organic producer that demonstrates its strong dedication to organic farming. The adoption of organic farming in India has the power to create a nation that is nutritionally, ecologically, and economically robust. By promoting and facilitating organic farming practices, India has the potential to enhance the nutritional quality of its food, safeguard the environment, and cultivate sustainable agricultural methods. These efforts will not only benefit the health and well-being of consumers but also contribute to the overall progress and prosperity of the nation in the near future. Dr. Bakshi has created awareness among the fruit growers and students through his youtube channel @parshantbakshi and providing practical knowledge to the fruit growers and web lectures on fruit production technologies, propagation of fruit plants, layout of fruit orchard are helpful for aspirants, students and teachers.

Prof. Janardan Singh, President of OASI felicitated Dr. Bakshi with a momento and certificate for his presentation. A book Chapter on Prospects of Organic and Natural farming in Himalayan Fruit Culture in National Conference was also published in book released entitled “Transforming Agriculture through Organic & Natural Farming” edited by Janardan Singh and Prof. Brijnandan.

The dignitaries who graced the Conference were Prof. Chander Kumar, Minster of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, Dr. Tej Pratap, Former VC, V K Vidyarthi, General Manager of APEDA, GoI, Prof. H K Chaudhary, Vice Chancellor CSK HPKV Palampur University, Dr. P.L.Gautam, Former DDG, Padmashree awarded Krishi Doot Nek Ram Sharma and statutory officers of University.

This conference was attended by 250 experts including scientists, researchers, students, and entrepreneurs from different parts of the country indicating the significance and interest in the subject of natural and organic farming.
