Ziraat Times News Network

Srinagar, Feb 28: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has appealed J&K’s  Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to implement the scheme of Government of Maharashtra regarding conversion of Government-owned leased land into free hold lands.

The scheme, which was launched by Maharashtra Government in March 2019,  has been further extended till 2024. The said scheme is a progressive one and needs to be implemented in Jammu & Kashmir. Once implemented it will benefit thousands of lease holders and help the Government in raising a substantial amount of revenue, KCCI said in a media statement today.

“The said scheme has been extended because the beneficiaries could not avail of it due to outbreak of Covid 19. Similarly, the lease holders in Jammu and Kashmir could not make adequate use of their lease period due to turmoil and other factors detrimental for business activities. Hence, the need to review the lease policy and tenure”, KCCI said.

Observing that the Maharashtra lease conversion scheme is a progressive one and a similar scheme needs to be implemented in Jammu & Kashmir, KCCI further said that  once implemented it will not only benefit thousands of lease holders but enable the Government to earn a substantial amount of revenue.
