KCCI elections: Hope21 group records landslide win

Srinagar, Feb 21: In what is being seen as a landslide victory, Hope 21 group has won  21 out of 21 Executive Committee Seats for which elections were held today at Kashmir Government Arts Emporium in Srinagar.

The results were announced in presence of Divisional Commissioner today, while an official written confirmation was awaited till this report was being field. The new office bearers will be elected at 11 AM tomorrow.

The elections were held under the orders of Hon’ble High Court who put Deputy Commissioner Srinagar overall incharge of elections with the assistance of Jt. Registrar General J&K High Cout, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Srinagar and six member Election Committee comprising of KCCI members, including the outgoing President.

Akib Chaya, a young businessman and a next generation entrepreneur of Chaya Group of Companies, has emerged as the top vote taker with 453 votes. Umer Nazir Tibetbaqual, Ashaq Hussain Shangloo, Faiz Bakshi and Javid Ahmed Bhat (Tenga) are among the top vote clinchers among the group.

Speaking to Ziraat Times about his and Hope21 group’s win, Mr Akib said, “I would like to thank all the voter who supported a transparent and responsible team in general by giving us all 21 seats and me in specific by giving me highest number of votes. Now the work has to begin to fight for the commerce and industry.”

“By Allah’s grace our Panel made a clean sweep winning 21 out of 21”, Faiz Bakshi told Ziraat Times, adding, “Hope 21 has expressed its gratitude to all the members of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce for coming out in huge numbers to vote in this crucial election.”

Meanwhile, a senior member of Kashmir21 group said that they would study the results of the elections and assured their cooperation to the winning executive committee.

“In any democratic exercise we have to accept the results and draw lessons and do better next time”, he said.

Meanwhile, Hope 21 has also assured members of trade, commerce & industry of all efforts for the resolution of mounting problems facing trade.

Umar Nazir Tibetbaqal of the Labaika Group, who is among the top vote clinchers, in his reaction on his win said,  “It is the landslide victory . This is the victory of trade,  commerce and industry and all the members of Chamber of Commerce who voted for us and even those who didn’t vote”.

Hope 21 group has also thanked Deputy Commissioner and his entire team for holding the elections in free, fair and transparent manner.
