Srinagar, Aug 26: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Budgam organized one day “Interaction cum training programme on Role and responsibilities of Board of Directors of FPOs” today at KVK Campus. Regional Director NCDC, Govt. of India, Lt. Col. Ashish Mohan Agarwal was Chief Guest on the occasion.
The programme was also attended Deputy Director, NCDC Govt. of India Vivek Tripathi alongwith Deputy Registrar Cooperative Budgam, Abida Nabi, Scientists of the Kendra and members of Boards of Directors of two FPOs.
Dr Mir Nadeem Hassan (Coordinator FPO) presented a brief progress report of two FPOs. Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Budgam, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone highlighted the role of FPOs in doubling the farmers income. Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Budgam ensured full support and cooperation in implementation of FPO scheme in the District. Regional Director NCDC, Govt. of India discussed various issues regarding FPO formation and its implementation and assured all possible assistance from their organization. At the end, vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Vaseem Yousuf (SMS Plant Protection) KVK Budgam
Dingri Mushroom, entrepreneurship development training commences
Meanwhile, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Budgam also kick-started two training programmes entitled ‘Dingri Mushroom Cultivation’ and ‘Current Prospects in Entrepreneurship Development using Agriculture and Allied Sciences’ for rural youth of the district Budgam under Skill Training for Rural Youth (STRY) Scheme.
These programmes are being sponsored by SAMETI (DOE) SKUAST-K and MANAGE Hyderabad. Fifty Six Rural Youth from different areas of the district participated in these trainings. Sr Scientist & Head, Bilal Ahmad Loneaddressed the participants and highlighted the importance of skill development in agriculture and allied sectors and its role in generating employment among Rural Youth. The Inaugural function was attended by Scientists/Technical staff of the Kendra. At the end, vote of thanks was presented by Dr Bhinish Shakeel (SMS Home Science) KVK Budgam.
