J&K All-Party Meeting held in Srinagar; Apni Party, PC stay away, Shiv Sena, Jammu parties join

Srinagar, Aug 22: Almost all major political parties of J&K  have joined the All Party Meeting which began here at National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah’s Gupkar residence. Apni Party and People’s Conference have stayed away from the meeting, which is being held to discuss the future course of action with regard to inclusion of non-locals into electoral rolls of Jammu and Kashmir.

Notably, Shiv Sena and many other prominent leaders from Jammu have joined the meeting.

Earlier, Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone in a presser said that they will not attend the all party meeting called by NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah.

Apni Party stays away from all-party meeting

On expected lines, Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party stayed away from an all-party meeting underway in Srinagar to discuss the issue of inclusion of non-locals in electoral rolls of Jammu & Kashmir.

Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that no leader from Apni Party is attending the meeting chaired by NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah to discuss the issue of voting rights to non-locals .

“It is a futile exercise. Why should we attend the meeting? Our party is satisfied with the clarification issued by the government,” a leader of the party, wishing not to be named, told KNO.

It is pertinent to mention that Shiv Sena is also attending the meeting—(KNO)

Shiv Sena attends all –party meeting

Shiv Sena, considered as a rightwing political party, is also attending the all-party meeting being chaired by NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah here to discuss the issue of inclusion of non-voters in electoral rolls of J&K.

Talking to reporters, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Shiv Sena, J&K unit president Manish Sahni said that they have come together to help people despite their ideologies.

He said that Jammu & Kashmir is suffering and they have to work to end the miseries of common masses.

Manish Sahni belongs to Uddhav Thackeray camp.
