PHDCCI Jammu shares taxation-related views with ST Dept

Jammu, July 15: The PHDCCI Jammu delegation headed by its Chair Rahul Sahai, Anil Mahajan Sr member, Shantnu Gupta Advocate and senior member and Amerpreet Singh Resident Officer PHDCCI  was on Thursday invited by  Commissioner J&K State taxes Department for interaction meeting  related to GST act 2017. The proceedings were chaired by Dr. Rashmi Singh, IAS Commissioner, States Taxes Department and Mahesh Kumar Rastogi IRS Principal Commissioner CGST  and Neetu Gupta (KAS) Addl. Comissioner State Taxes ( Adm & Enforcement ) Jammu, Ankita Kar  Addl. Comissioner State Taxes ( Planning ). Dy. Commissioner Enforcement Madam Ritu Gupta, Dy. Commissioner Lakhanpur Mr. Ranjit Singh, Dy Commissioner Appeals, Sehnaz Choudhary, Dy. Commissioner Recovery Namrata Dogra and other senior Officers of the State Taxes Department were also present.

“The officers of State Tax Department and GST Department interacted with PHDCCI delegation and the tax payers, business community,  traders and businessmen and members of prominent trade body representatives.  The objective of the programme was to take feedback and concrete suggestions from the stakeholders and listen to their grievances besides spreading awareness amongst the taxpayers regarding Indirect taxes  and other issues with regard to GST”, a statement issued to Ziraat Times said.

Rahul Sahai in his address said the businessman of Jammu  are paying  their taxes diligently and Congratulated department for completing of 5 years of GST with reforms every year and said department should let dealor work in a free environment as more and more they will work more tax would be realised . Sahai highlighted Timely SGST Reimbursement to Industry and suggested that department should ask Finance department to keep 50% budget provision in advance for reimbursement of SGST as they are keeping for capex budget otherwise firstly GST Department send requirement and funds are allotted as per availability which is delaying the process.

Mr Sahai flagged the issue of one time relaxation to SMEs whose GST numbers were cancelled due to non filling of nil returns of GST during covid period so that they can restart there business . Department can also consider giving new gst number on same pan number too . Early disposal of appeal cases should be done to give justice as early as possible which in return can generate revenue for department and said appeals pending for penalties for technical glitches like unable to produce TDS Certificate C forms, F forms should be settled at the earliest.

Mr Sahai flagged that last year grievance redressal / advisory committee was made but no meeting was held request you to convene the meetings and prominent chambers should be part of it too. Sahai said if there is a delay in refunds to industry interest on the amount should be given to industry.

Beside other issues raised It was demanded for Proposing a fresh Amnesty scheme for pending arrears of vat and old GST which is long pending issue of Trade and Commerce of J&K.
