Crop insurance claims: 29,000 farmers in Jammu get Rs 51.4 cr in FY22

JAMMU, JULY 06: Farmers’ claims worth Rs 51.4 crores have been finalised and disbursed among 29,000 claimants in Jammu region during the year 2021-22. All the bankers/insurance companies have been directed to dispose off the bounce back claims.

This was stated during a meeting of bankers and insurance companies at Krishi Bhawan here today chaired by Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu, KK Sharma The meeting was called to define strategies for implementation of the scheme for the season Kharif 2022 and to dispose of and to redress the issues pertaining to Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), an official statement received by Ziraat Times said.

KK Sharma directed the bankers to deduct the insurance premium from the farmers for current season Kharif 2022 before or by the cut off date. Bankers were directed to confirm with the farmers about crop and area before the generation of premium slip. Likewise, the insurance companies were directed to make close liaison with concerned banks for early disposal and redressal of all the issues pertaining with the scheme and to distribute the Policy Document to the farmers whose crops have been insured.

JCCB Bank/ Insurance Company (RGICL) were directed to clear all pending claims for early disposal and also furnish all the necessary logistics to operationalise the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Banks were advised for inclusion of Aadhar Card on National Crop Insurance Portal of farmers as well as with their Bank account numbers to avoid any duplication in release of subsidies.

Incharge PMFBY Cell was directed to share Local Government Directory with the bankers as well as the insurance company to avoid any confusion regarding finding the location of the fields for insurance.

The meeting was attended by the Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs) Jammu, besides representatives of banks and insurance companies.
