KU’s Iqbal Institute holds seminar on eve of Iqbal Day

Srinagar, April 20: The Iqbal Institute of Culture & Philosophy organised a daylong seminar on the theme “Iqbal’s Concept of Quranic Wisdom and Contemporary World” commemorating Iqbal’s 84th death anniversary. The seminar was presided over by Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir worthy Registrar, according to a statement issued to media.

At the inauguration of the seminar Hafiz Shahnawaz shah recited the Holy verses of Quran while as Mohammad Had Nakeeb recited Nat-e Rasool (SAW). In his welcome address Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai Coordinator Iqbal Institute of Culture & Philosophy welcomed all the speaking signatories and guests. He stressed upon the need to read Iqbal’s poetry in the context of Quranic wisdom.

The keynote address was delivered by renowned scholar Moulana Ahmad Shah Al Qasmi (Lolabi) “The Holy Quran was a source of inspiration and foundation of Allama Iqbal’s Philosophy and thought, he said while congratulating the Iqbal Institute for organising seminars and webinars regularly on the teaching and philosophy of Iqbal. Dr. Shahnawaz Shah Assistant Professor Department of Persian, while presenting his paper said that Iqbal derived his inspiration from Quran and always impressed that Muslims can regain their past glory only by sticking to the teachings of Quran.

Dr. Tariq Masoodi, also presented a research paper in which he said that Iqbal’s concept of knowledge is derived from Quran. It is important for everyone today to go through the educational philosophy of Iqbal viz a viz Quran and realise the true meaning and purpose of life: he said.

In his special address Dr. Hameed Naseem Rafiabadi Director International centre for spiritual studies, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora said that Iqbal devoted all his life to impress upon Muslims to pursue knowledge in accordance with the teaching of the Holy Quarn.

Dr. Nisaar Ahmad Mir, Registrar KU,  cited many examples how Iqbal awakened the Muslim world with his true understanding of the teachings of holy Quran and how he promoted humanity in his philosophical thought based on the interpretation of the Holy Quarn.

Earlier coordinator Iqbal Institute of Culture & Philosophy Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai highlighted the aims and objectives of the seminar and presented a brief introduction about the works and research being undertaken at Iqbal Institute of Culture & Philosophy.

At the end of the seminar Dr. Rukhsana Rahim expressed vote of thanks while as Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Wani moderated the seminar.
