Srinagar, April 19: Expressing serious concern over the frequent and unscheduled power cuts across Kashmir, social activist and businessman M. Altaf Dar has said that the situation was highly affecting the education of school going children in Kashmir.
“School going children are lagging behind in their studies because the study cycle requires them to study beyond day time, and frequent power outages, almost on a daily basis, was impeding their examination and study routine”, Mr Altaf said.
“Load-shedding is causing unbearable torture to the people. Students and the patients are the worst sufferers. They sit idly in the dark closing their books”, he said.
“They suffer terribly owing to load shedding on the night before their examination. Besides, due to long and frequent load-shedding during Ramzan, foodstuff kept in refrigerators rot and the commodities preserved in cold storages get spoilt”, he said.
Mr Altaf appealed the LG Administration to take steps to address the matter.
