Agri Dept seizes unregistered pesticides in Pulwama

Srinagar, April 8: District level Enforcement officials of Agriculture Department, under the supervision of Director Agriculture Kashmir, carried a drive against spurious and unregistered pesticides at main market Pulwama today. Massive quantity of fertilizers and pesticides were seized in the operation, officials told Ziraat Times.

A huge quantity of spurious and unregistered pesticides and fertilizer were found from an undisclosed godown of an entity and the spurious/unregistered products were seized after all legal formalities, officials said. The exact quantity and the nature of the products seized have not been specified.

The operation was itself supervised by Director Agriculture Kashmir and investigation is continuing as well as final inventory of seized products will be prepared by tomorrow evening.

Director Agriculture Kashmir said such operations will continue in future too throughout the valley to curb the menace of spurious pesticides and sub-standard fertilizers.

The opperation was Led By District law enforcement officer South Kashmir Dr Amarjit Singh along with Fertilizer Inspector South Kashmir Jeelani Zargar, Law Enforcement Inspector Pulwama, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din, Law Enforcement Inspector Shopian Javid Ahmad Dar, Law Enforcement Inspector Kulgam, Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh and other officials of the enforcement wing, the statement added.
