Workshop on Floriculture Mission organized in Jammu by IHBT Palampur

Jammu, 19 Jan: Floriculture Mission successfully implemented in Jammu a program aimed at tapping the local production of loose flowers which are estimated to have huge market worth Rs 20 crores annually in local market.

The program was held under the guidance of Dr Sanjay Kumar, Director, IHBT Palampur CSIR Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India. During his virtual address to the participants, Dr Sanjay said that his institute is ready to support commercial floriculture in Jammu to tap local production of flowers as a city of temples by providing all viable support.

KK Sharma Director Agriculture give details of schemes under J&K Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department for doubling farmers’ income. Sunil Singh join Director Floriculture welcomed the initiatives of IHBT Palampur for distribution of planting material with training to flower growers.

Tajinder Singh Wazir President Jammu Flowers Cooperatives Ltd expressed his gratitude to CSIR IHBT Palampur and state department for such joint ventures for transfer of technology from lab to land. Scientists from IHBT Palampur Vikas Soni, Ankush Bajaj and Gurpreet Singh provide live training on different aspects of commercial floricuture. The Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua Vijay Upadhyay joined this meeting through virtual mode with their officer at block levels join 200 farmers online more than three hundred farmers from different blocks of J&K join this meeting through virtual mode.
