Kashmir’s Tour Operator Bodies grieved over damage to Highlands Park heritage hotel

Srinagar, Jan 23: Prominent members of Kashmir’s main tourism trade bodies – TASK, JKTA & J&K PILTOF –  have expressed grief over the partial damage by fire to two cottages of Highlands Park heritage
hotel in Gulmarg, Kashmir.

Terming the incident as unfortunate, the associations, in a statement to Ziraat Times, said that Highlands Park,  besides being a heritage property of Gulmarg, is one of the prestigious hotels of Gulmarg with a commanding location and great panorama.

“This hotel has been serving to the
tourists since 1967, be it the top golfers of the country during
summers or the Britishers during winter for skiing, especially before 1990. This hotel has created a niche in the market with quality service & food”, the associations said.

Akram Siah, Nasir Shah & Showkat Pakhtoon, Heads of TASK, JKTA & PILTOF have requested the Tourism Deptt & GDA to extend complete support to the hotel’s management in rebuilding the gutted cottages as early as possible so that the hotels gets back its pristine glory besides booked tourists in summer get their desired accommodation. The heads of the associations have expressed complete sympathy with Freddie Nedou & Khawar Jeelani.
