J&K’s industrial units, unable to produce, to meet 15 days deadline or surrender land

Srinagar, Dec 22: The Department of Industries and Commerce, Jammu & Kashmir, has given a deadline of fifteen days to those industrial units in J&K which have been unable to start production since 2019 after grant of Provisional Registration, to fulfill legal formalities within 15 days or face land retrieval.

According to the notification, a copy of which has been obtained by Ziraat Times, extension in validity of Provisional Registration shall be granted to those Industrial units that will complete the requisite formalities within 15 days, failing which the allotted leased land to them shall be retrieved.

This latest order applies to the those new industrial units that could not start production within the stipulated time frame of three years because of the Covid pandemic situation since March 2020 and earlier circumstances in the wake of August 5, 2019 developments.

Individual affidavit, duly attested by a Magistrate is required to be furnished by these unit holders to the General Manager of concerned District Industries Centre committing to operationalize the production by the extended date i.e. 30th June 2022.

In case the affidavit is not filed within 15 days from 20 December, 2021, the allotment shall be deemed to have been cancelled and the leased land shall be retrieved by the respective Corporation(s), without any notice, the notification reads.

The decision to grant one time extension in the validity of Provisional Registration of units, which have failed to commence production within the stipulated time frame, was taken by the Apex Projects Clearance Committee, in its meeting held on December 8, 2021 and the Directorates of Industries and Commerce today issued formal notification in this regard.

As per the J&K Industrial Policy 2016, a new Industrial units must come into production within three years of its Provisional Registration for getting Permanent Registration.
