Srinagar, Nov 2: Kashmir’s fruit traders and growers association has thanked LG Manoj Sinha for declaring the recent snowfall-inflicted fruit loss a state specific disaster.
In a letter to LG, a copy of which has been made available to Ziraat Times, the association has appealed the administration to conduct speedy loss assessment so that the affected farmers could be compensated in time.

The Management of this Union (KVFG) which is an Elected Apex Body of all Fruit Associations of the Valley would like to convey thanks from deep soul of our hearts for Declaration of the spell of heavy rainfall/heavy snowfall during the period of 23rd and 24th October, 2021 as State Specific Natural Disaster under SDRF Norms for purpose of providing relief to the affected families and Departments from SDRF in the Districts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian of Kashmir Division and Jammu, Udhampur, Kishtawar, Reasi, Samba and Kathua of Jammu Division vide Govt Order No: 77-JK-DMRR of 2021 Dated: 31-10-2021. In this connection the undersigned would like to request your Excellency with great respects that the Apple Crop which was under the process of harvesting have damaged to maximum extent and apple bearing branches broken even fruit yield plants uprooted with the result the Valley Based Fruit Growers/Dealers suffered heavy losses.
In this connection your Excellency is requested that the Concerned Subordinate Agencies may kindly be directed for immediate conducting of survey deeply of all Districts/Areas for ascertaining the actual fruit Growers/Dealers which have suffered losses due to recent untimely heavy snowfall/rainfall during the period of 23rd and 24th October 2021 and are accommodated in pursuance of Govt Order and date as quoted above.
