Srinagar, Oct 15: Hyderpora Citizens Action Group, while expressing satisfaction over the ongoing macadamisation work of the Bypass service lanes in the area, has requested the Divisional Administration to ensure that the contract quality parameters of macadam work for Bypass and Service Lanes are strictly abided by.
The group has thanked the Divisional administration for taking speedy actions in addressing the long term demands of the By Pass areas for fresh macadamisation under the National Highway projects maintenance heads.
A team of the group today visited the sites of the macadam work and found that the quality parameters required more attention and presence of senior engineers associated with the national highway maintenance project as well as the contracting agency.
“While the Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM) is being used in the macadam laying process, the weather conditions should be kept under consideration”, the group said, adding that there is a big time gap between two layer laying, and raining in between does not help in strong binding between the layers”.
The group has also expressed concern about the poor drainage considerations of the ongoing macadam work and has asked the contracting agency to abide by the stipulated technical standards and ensure the completion of the work without any delays in view of the weather conditions.
