Another leopard captured in Budgam

Budgam, Sep 25: Eight days after a nine-year-old boy was mauled to death, a female leopard was caught alive by Wildlife authorities on Saturday evening at Dooru Sebdan area in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that some leopards were spotted in the area following which the searches were intensified and traps were placed accordingly.

He said that after strenuous efforts, the female leopard was caught alive on Saturday evening, adding that a cub was caught on Friday morning following which a female leopard came at the same spot to find the cub, however, got trapped in a cable trap.

However, the locals from Haran, a village where the nine-year-old boy was mauled to death by animal a week before, told KNO that they have spotted a leopard on Saturday evening at Warpora Curve.

Meanwhile, an official said that the leopards were captured at the place, located close to the village where a nine-year-old boy was mauled to death a week before.

He said that the search is continuing from the last eight days and staff has been deployed at every hotspot to catch the animal, who mauled the boy to death, he said—(KNO)
