In a major overhaul of the Cabinet, 36 new ministers, including Sarbananda Sonowal and Jyotiraditya Scindia, joined the central government and four high-profile ministers, including Prakash Javadekar and Dr Harsh Vardhan, quit on Wednesday.

While some ministers were elevated, many were dropped as PM Modi attempted an image makeover of his government facing grim challenges due to the Covid pandemic and a faltering economy by carrying out the first expansion.
