J&K Reorganisation Act 2019: Centre makes 64 new “rectifications”

 

Srinagar: The Union Home Ministry has issued a notification to make 64 rectifications which it has called “error corrections” in amendments carried out by it post-reorganisation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir in the laws enacted by the J&K legislature.

In a notification accessed by Kashmir News Observer (KNO) news agency, the MHA has issued a corrigendum “to correct mistakes in four orders issued by it under section 96 of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, which empowered it amend/ repeal the laws made applicable to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and Ladakh Union Territory.”

Ziraat Times has immediately not been able to verify the nature of the rectifications made in the laws.

Under section 96 of the Reorganisation Law, the Centre was empowered to amend/ repeal laws which were made applicable to J&K UT through the Reorganisation Act.

The Centre was vested with these powers for a period of one year, starting from October 31, 2019.

According to the notification, “11 mistakes have been corrected” in Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (adapation of state laws order) 2020 which was issued and 21 in adaptation of state Laws) Third Order, 2020 unveiled on October 5, 2021.

Five such “mistakes and deficiencies were rectified” in Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Adaptation of State Laws) Fourth Order, 2020 and 27 in Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Adaptation of State Laws) Fourth Order, 2020.

In September 2019, the Centre had also corrected 52 mistakes in Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act—(KNO)
