Budgam, June 2: After the reports of a few theft cases in Nagam-Chadoora area, J&K Police has swung into action and has decided to act tough in order to bring the burglars to book.
In the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday, burglars broke in into an office premises and took away some valuable items from there.
A group of respectable citizens from Nagam-Chadoora areas told Ziraat Times that while the area is by and large free from criminal activities, the lockdown conditions seems to have encouraged some misguided persons to resort to theft and use of banned cannabies, especially during evening and night times. The elders said that they have obtained some leads on the culprits of the theft incidents and will work closely with the local police in ensuring that such incidents do not recur.
Meanwhile, SHO Chadoora Sajjad Ahmed said that the police in the area has taken several measures to ensure that anti-social elements do not take benefit of lockdown conditions and resort to theft and other illegal activities.
“We are already on the job, and will bring the culprits to book”, he said.
Elders of the Nagam-Chadoora area have appreciated the efforts of the SHO and his teams in working hard to keep the area safe from such criminal activities.
Security Review Meeting
In the meantime, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem on Tuesday chaired the security review meeting regarding law and order, crime, and preventive measures taken to combat Covid-19.
A statement of J&K Police issued here said that Saleem chaired the security review meeting with all SDPOs, SHOs and PPs of district Budgam and discussed different security measures for ensuring peace and stability in the district.
He also took stock of the measures to be taken to combat Covid-19 and urged the officers to strengthen the general security grid of their respective areas for ensuring peace and stability besides taking stringent action against those involved in anti-social activities, particularly those involved in drugs and similar substances.
Mr Saleem also urged upon the officers to conclude the investigation of criminal cases on merits within the stipulated period.
The SSP Budgam appreciated the efforts of Police and other forces for maintaining peace and stability in the district and emphasised upon them to maintain synergy and better coordination with other security agencies at the ground level to maintain a peaceful environment and security in the district.
He also appreciated the efforts of Police in combating coronavirus and maintaining law and order in the district. Saleem directed the officers to strengthen the security grid in their respective areas and plug the gaps to avoid untoward incidents in the district.
