J&K misses another deadline on Covid vaccination; glaring inter-district disparity

Srinagar, Jun 30: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has missed yet another deadline set by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha with regard to vaccinating all the people above 45-years of age till June end.

As per the data available, four districts in J&K which includes Jammu, Samba, Shopian and Ganderbal have already completed 100 percent mark, however, there are some districts which are lagging very behind in the process and even some districts are yet to cross 60 percent mark.

Pertinently, LG earlier on May 16 had set 10 days to vaccinate all above 45, however, this deadline was missed by long margin and later June end was set as another deadline.

Data available with the KNO reveals that 86 percent population above 45 have received first jab while as just 13 percent people have received the second jab.

In Kishtwar among 53,130 persons above 45 years of age 83 percent have received first jab while as 13 percent have received second jab, in Srinagar 58 percent have received first jab while as just six percent have received second jab. In Doda 75 percent have received first jab and 15 percent have received second jab, in Udhampur 77 percent received first jab and 14 percent received second jab, in Kulgam 86 percent received first jab while as 7 percent received second jab, in Shopian 100 percent received first jab while as 15 percent received second jab, in Kathua 81 percent received first jab and 16 percent received second jab and in Bandipora 98 percent received first jab while as 11 percent received second jab.

In Anantnag 89 percent people above 45 have received first jab while as 8 percent have received second jab, in Ramban 79 percent have received first jab while as 18 percent have received second jab, in Baramulla 98 percent have received first jab while as 14 percent have received second jab, in Samba 100 percent people have received first jab while as 21 percent people have received second jab, in Rajouri 97 percent people have received first jab while as 10 percent people have received second jab, in kupwara 60 percent people above 45 have received first jab and 5 percent people have received second jab, in Poonch 96 percent have received first jab while as 9 percent have received second jab and in Reasi 72 percent and 8 percent people above 45 have received first and second jabs respectively.

In Pulwama 78 percent and 11 percent , in Ganderbal 100 percent and 17 percent, in Budgam 85 percent and 11 percent and in Jammu 100 percent and 28 percent people above 45 years of age have received first and second jabs of Covid vaccine respectively.

In total, of 3,015,984 persons above 45 of age 2,579,166 (86 percent) people have received first jab while as 393,452 (13 percent) have received second jab.
