Hyderpora residents form Citizen Action Group

Ziraat Times News Network

Srinagar: A group of citizens from various colonies around Hyderpora Bypass have joined hands and formed Hyderpora Citizens Action Group. The group intends to do joint advocacy and action for improved basic amenities of roads, drinking water, power, environmental conservation and encroachment-free and safe thoroughfare of the service lanes and bylanes of the area.

“The group has come into being because the area is sliding into neglect and development deficiencies with every passing day. Roads are in a shambles. Encroachments on public spaces and roads are rampant. The once green spaces along the bypass are being encroached by big corporate houses creating risks for the movement of the people, mainly children and elderly. Provision of basic amenities requires stronger and joint efforts”, a core member of the group told Ziraat Times.

“This will be an effective and result oriented effort. Most residents of the area are deeply upset with the ineffective and inadequate development and lack of voice for the thousands of people living in this area. This group intends to make a new and effective beginning”, said another member of the group.

The group intends to unveil its priority agenda for 2021 through its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts soon. It has asked for recommendations from the people of the area.

The group intends to work in close partnership with Ziraat Times in promoting environmental conservation in the area.
