Director Agriculture Kashmir flags off vegetable consignment to different mandis

Srinagar: Director Agriculture Production & Farmer’s Welfare Department Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal flagged off a consignment of 35 load carriers carrying fresh vegetables to the different markets and mandis in and outside of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. These fresh vegetables were procured from the different areas of valley including Safanagri Shopian, Chadura Budgam, zone Qamarwari Srinagar etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture Kashmir said that in order to provide multiple marketing channels to the vegetable farmers of the valley for their produce and to offer fresh vegetables of valley to the customers from different parts of the country, this initiative has been taken by the Department. Proper marketing and value addition of the agriculture produce and the produce from allied sectors like Apiculture, Mushroom etc is a priority of the Department, he said and added.

Mr. Iqbal said the farmers are now coming forward to adopt organic and exotic vegetable cultivation because of its economic sustainability and multi fold profitability. He appreciated the vegetable farmers of these areas and ensured them of every possible support from the Department in future also. Mr. Iqbal asked the concerned officers to work in close coordination with the farmers and make sure that they get all the necessary technical support from the Department.

Director Agriculture was accompanied by Deputy Director Law Enforcement Kashmir Mohammad Younis Chowdhary and some other senior officers.
