Valley Fruit Growers Union hail MoU for air transportation of perishable fruits

Srinagar: The Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union and the members of the new Kashmir Fruit Association Fruit Marketing Complex Parimpora Srinagar have hailed the significant decision of J&K government for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Go Airlines for transportation of perishable horticulture and agricultural produce to various destinations across the country at lower freight charges.

In a statement issued to Ziraat Times, the president of the unions Bashir Ahmed Basheer, while expressing the fruit growers’ gratitude to Principal Secretary Navin Kumar Choudhary for the move, said, “this significant step will empower the Fruit Growers of J&K and will also increase their income as well as boost the rural economy. This MOU will also address the transportation hiccups for the horticulture produce, the highly perishable
items like cherry, plum, apricot etc. under this MOU the airlines will charge Rs.24, Rs. 34,
Rs. 47, Rs. 48 and Rs. 50 for transportation of perishable Fruit produce like cherry plum
apricot etc from Srinagar to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore respectively.”
