Big wins for TMC and DMK; LDF keeps Kerala, BJP retains Assam

New Delhi: Trends indicate that incumbent Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) will end up convincingly winning in West Bengal, while challenger Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could fall way below its expected number of seats (elections were held in 292 constituencies). In a major victory, chief minister Mamata Banerjee defeated political turncoat Suvendu Adhikari in his bastion Nandigram.

Exit polls had predicted a tight contest between TMC and the BJP.

Tamil Nadu election result 2021 LIVE: In Tamil Nadu, while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagham (DMK) is well ahead of the incumbent All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagham (AIADMK), the latter is holding its own in some pockets, clearly avoiding the rout that had been expected in a state. Besides, Kamal Haasan of the Makkal Needhi Maiam is leading in Coimbatore. At 1:30 pm, the M K Stalin-led DMK was head in 127 of the state’s 234 constituencies, while the AIADMK was leading in 103.

All the surveys have predicted a DMK-Left-Congress alliance victory.

Kerala election results LIVE updates: In Kerala, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) is seeking to break the state’s four-decade-old trend of swinging between the communists and the Congress-led United Democratic Front.
Assam election result 2021: The BJP is likely to retain Assam, according to most pollsters, while the Left Democratic Front (LDF) may beat anti-incumbency and remain in power in Kerala.
Puducherry election result 2021: In Puducherry, the Congress is set to lose with surveys giving the AIADMK-BJP-NR Congress alliance a comfortable lead.
