Srinagar: Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) held an interaction with the residents surrounding Khushalsar under a Public Private Partnership initiative to safeguard the degrading water resources of Kashmir valley.

The conscious and responsible dwellers headed by numerous presidents of mohalla committees met with the President NLCO Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo and its volunteers, and expressed their joy and excitement over the massive improvement of Khushalsar, NLCO said in a statement.

“They first thanked NLCO who is carrying Mission Ehsaas – cleansing of Khushalsar and tremendously appreciated its efforts. The residents who are the immediate stakeholders of the lake demonstrated a character of concerned community by showing a great concern towards the restoration and preservation in today’s meeting”, the statement added.

“It was delightful to learn that locals seem much concerned and have resolved to look after the lake and change their attitude to make the change happen. The meeting was a positive step towards much needed community based conservation. This initiative of mission Ehsaas is transforming into much envisaged community led conservation”, Mr Wangnoo said on the occasion.

The locals also expressed their gratitude to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir for his personal interest, help and support in the restoration of this waterbody. The presidents of the mohalla committees also thanked SMC for their tremendous work in lifting and disposing the waste.
