Srinagar, Jan 25: Jammu & Kashmir government has awarded Dr Rafiq Raaz, Farooq Ahmad Wani (Editor Brighter Kashmir), Dr. Naveed Nazir (CDH, Srinagar), Prof. Shiv Datt Nirmohi (Writer) and few other public personalities persons for meritorious public services on the eve of the Republic Day.
Others who have been conferred with awards of merit for their public services include Dr. A.D.S. Manhas, Medical Officer, National Health Mission; Riyaz Ahmad Mir, Senior Grade Nurse, Chest Diseases Hospital, Srinagar; Ms. Kanta Devi, Senior Staff Nurse, Government Medical College and Jammu and Health & Medical Education Department.
Rafiq Raaz (Poet) was awarded for Achievements in the field of Literature while Late Mr. Shadi Lai Koul (Actor) was posthumously awarded for presuming Arts. Sajad Hussain Dar (Paper Machie Craft) was awarded for Excellence in Arts and Crafts.
Sandeep Singh (Mountaineer) and Kabra Altaf (Judo) were awarded for outstanding sports persons while Suraj Kumar Bansal, Chairman/ Managing Director, Saraswati Group of Companies was awarded for Outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship.
All the awardees barring the one for Lifetime Achievements will get a cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal, and a citation. Award for lifetime achievements carries cash award of Rs one lakh, a medal and a citation.
