Advisor Baseer Khan and FCIK President Shahid Kamili discuss crucial industry issues

Srinagar: Federation Chambers of Industries, Kashmir (FCIK), led by its president Shahid Kamili, met Advisor in Charge Industries & Commerce Baseer Ahmed Khan at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.

FCIK President, along with his team, apprised the Advisor regarding several critical issues currently faced by industries in Kashmir, which includes the industrial policy framing wherein the key stakeholders, as per them, are not being kept in the loop of the consultation process.

President FCIK stressed upon the advisor that due preference should be given to local industrial unit holders instead of GEM portal, considering the competition disadvantages and Internet constraints.

The team also raised the issue of marketing, maintaining that different departments, especially PDD (KPDC) and Rural Development Department are not honouring the present industrial policy in vogue, with the result that the staff in the present units have been rendered jobless and idle labour is being paid by them.

FCIK has also raised the ‘problems faced by furniture industry, for the government departments are now mentioning the names of national brands, excluding the local industries from competition.

The issue of Pollution Control Board clearances was also taken up and the unnecessary delay was discussed. The Advisor was also apprised about the boiling problems faced by stone crushing units in the valley and the menace of illegal mining.

Advisor was apprised of the problems faced by unit holders while getting their legitimate payments released from SICOP.

The meeting was also attended by Syed Sajad Qadri OSD to Hon’ble Advisor, Owais Jamie Secretary General FCIK, Nayeem Khan President Electrical Manufacturers Association.
