Z-Morh Tunnel to be ready early: A ZT photo feature

Srinagar: The Z-Morh Tunnel, providing an important road connectivity on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Kargil axis, is expected to be ready earlier than the scheduled deadline of 21 Dec, 2023, the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHDCIL) said today.

“Work is in progress at Z-Morh tunnel project, 6.5-km long each Main and Escape tunnel, 6-km approach roads, two major bridges and one minor bridge”, the corporation said in a statement.

The project cost is about Rs. 2,379 crores. The project is scheduled to be on 21 Dec 2023 but likely to be completed much ahead of schedule.

The project will provide round-the-year connectivity to Sonamarg which otherwise remains disconnected in winters.
