SKUAST-K scientists commence a week-long protest program

Srinagar: SKUAST-K Scientists and Teachers Association (SSTA) have called a week long protest commencing from today. The protest call has been made after thorough consultations with all the representatives from varsity faculties, Research stations and KVKs spread in Kashmir Valley and Ladakh, a spokesperson of the Association told Ziraat Times.


The protest programme has been planned to press for the redressal of the various issues and problems faced by the scientist fraternity.


“We have been meeting the university administration and demanding for the redressal of the genuine issues confronting scientist fraternity from the last one year and what we received is only the promises never to be fulfilled”, said the President of the Association.


“Immediate settlement of the pending CAS cases, timely release of salary of KVK scientists, release of CAS arrears, adherence to university norms with respect to one man-one post, rotation of divisional heads, uploading University council decisions on university website, removing Pay anomaly of ASWO’s, release of 5 advance increments for newly recruited scientists, necessary disciplinary action against comptroller for his non-seriousness in settling the financial affairs of the varsity, the rationalization of the supporting staff to strengthen different faculties” are some of the issues that the association have been pressing for implementation” he added.


The protest programme will be peaceful and disciplined comprising of Pendown, Blackband wearing, peaceful assembling at the respective posting places and displaying of placards with some approved slogans following a proper calendar prepared by the association without affecting the normal routine work.
