Urban unemployment in J&K rises to 13.8% in Aug, 9.9% in rural areas

Srinagar: Urban unemployment rate in Jammu & Kashmir in formal sectors has shot up to 13.8% in August 2020, while this rate is 9.9% in rural areas

According to the data released by the Centre for Monitoring of the Indian Economy (CMIE), and analysed by Ziraat Times, urban unemployment rate in August was 13.6% in Delhi, 36% in Haryana, 26.4 % in Himachal Pradesh, 25% in Rajasthan and 21.5%. in Bihar.

India’s unemployment rate and overall joblessness worsened in the month of August in the formal sector along with saturation in the farm sector, according to the latest data by Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).

As per the latest data released by the CMIE, the urban unemployment in India shot up to 9.83 per cent in August as against 9.15 per cent in July. With urban unemployment in August touching 9.83 per cent, it shows that one in every 10 person in urban areas cannot find job.

Rural unemployment too witnessed an increase – it was 7.65 per cent in August as against 6.66 per cent recorded in July. Haryana is the worst hit, with a whopping 33.5 per cent unemployment rate, followed by Tripura (27.9 per cent).
