Drought hits Tangmarg villages of Kashmir

Tangmarg: Intense high temperature-induced draught being witnessed in Kashmir these days has hit many villages here in the Kawarhama Tehsil of Sub District Gulmarg.

The worst-affected villages are of tehsil Kawarhama viz Wussan Bangil, Ketchmatipora.

Heing, Soipora, Tarhama , Barzalla, Pinjoora, Goigam Waripora Bangil and the adjoining habitation.

The paddy in these villages is badly hit as there was no water available for final stages of cultivation. The farmers are depressed seeing their green paddy fields turning into mere dry grass.

Pertinently, the apple fruit is already wort hit by scab in most of the orchards of the area. The farmers have demanded for compensation after a proper survey of the losses suffered by them due to non-availability of irrigation water.
