Jammu: Concerned over reports of high coronavirus transmission and demise of a colleague in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association J&K today appealed the Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production Department to postpone the Kissan Pakhwada program.
According to a statement received by Ziraat Times , an emergency meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association J&K was held today, which was presided over by President of the association Dr. Surinder Radotra. All the district presidents of JKATA while paying condolence on the untimely demise of an agriculture technocrat made a fervent appeal to J&K government to postpone the Pakhwada program.
“Agriculture production and farmers welfare department is working 24*7 to make Kissan Pakhwada a grand success in which stress is being laid upon in making KCC 100% success. But unfortunately today we have lost our one of the dynamic officer performing his duty and many more are infected by COVID 19”, JKATA said.
“We appeal to worthy Commissioner Secy. to postpone this Kissan Pakhwada as the desirable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are not being adopted by the farming community in these large gatherings and there is high risk of spreading this disease in the community”, the Association further said.
Noting that without having any protection kits the whole department is working tirelessly to make this event a success, JKATA further said that Agriculture Extension Assistants (AEAs) working at panchayat level are more prone to get infected by COVID 19 as they are dealing with the large gatherings directly in the panchayats and banks.
“Services of Agriculture Department comes under essential services, but there is no Insurance Cover for these Carona Warriors, who are working at all fronts, be at Quarantine Centers, Lakhanpur Entry Point, Railway Station,Shri Amarnath Yatra counters etc. We have already appealed the government a earlier on Insurance Cover of 50 lakh at par with medical fraternity and provision of Personal Protection Equipments to these Corana Warriors but nothing has been done so far”, the Association said.
