SRINAGAR: In what is billed as a big move to create newer job opportunities in education sector, Jammu & Kashmir administration is contemplating a “single window clearance system” for private investment proposals under the newly unveiled education investment policy.
Pertinently, a number of potential local private investors of Jammu & Kashmir are pinning their hopes on the roll out of the Education Investment Policy-2020 (EIP-2020), seeing it as a good opportunity for creating jobs in an otherwise bad job environment in J&K.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today said J&K government was committed to facilitate private investors to invest in education sector through the new Education Investment Policy.
Speaking at a meeting convened to discuss implementation of EIP-2020 with several private stakeholders, Dr Samoon, while welcoming investment in education sector, said that the government was committed and wants to create conducive atmosphere for creation of state-of-art educational ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by fostering the spirit of creativity and nurturing a culture of scientific temper and critical thinking.
The meeting, attended by Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Talat Parvez Rohella; Directors of School Education Jammu/Kashmir and Chairperson J&K Board of School Education, Veena Pandita, Mission Director, Skill Development Department, has generated enthusiasm among potential private investors in J&K, suffering an otherwise bad business environment.
Maintaining that there was scope for the establishment of private universities in J&K, Dr Samoon further said there is a need to attract the investors for the establishment of these private universities.
“If the government could facilitate private investment in the sector with right facilitation for the domiciles of J&K, it could result in significant job creation and give a fillip to the struggling economic environment in Jammu & Kashmir”, a participant in the meeting told Ziraat Times.
We informed the government that we are planning to target local students who seek admissions in colleges and universities outside J&K, besides attracting students from across India and abroad as well, another participant said.
