PHDCC Kashmir chapter meets LG Murmu, seeks debt relief

Srinagar: A delegation of PHD Chamber Kashmir Chapter had a meeting with J&K Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu here today and sought personal intervention of the LG to prevail upon the Reserve Bank of India for allowing rehabilitation and relief measures to all loan accounts including large borrowers in J&K.

A statement issued by the PHD Chamber today said the delegation was headed by its Chairman Baldev Singh Raina along with Co-Chair Showket Choudhary, and State Expert Committee Chairs Adnan Shah, Fayaz Ahmad, Shahana Fatima.

Seeking long term and immediate interventions for overall sustainable development of J&K that the delegation also discussed:

Air connectivity to Jammu Airport through unserved Awantipora Airport or Old Airport Rangreth under Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN-RCS),

Restoration of High Speed internet,

  • Extension in installment submission under amnesty for Old Tax Regime –VAT,
  • Window period for registration of the vehicles with temporary numbers generated on 2nd and 3rd August -2019 as the tax have been collected as per old tax rates by dealers as the government portal VAHAAN was not updated with revised tax rates and was accepting the Tax as per the Old Tax Slab,
  • Consideration of insurance claims for the losses caused by snowfall in the month of Nov-Dec-19, which has been already declared a natural disaster by Govt authorities,
  • Special Economic Zone Status to Handicraft and Handloom Industry and implementation of all Bussiness Reform Action Plan of DIPP for ease of doing business,
  • From tourism point of view it was brought notice of Hon’ble LG that the frequency of national and international flights needs to be increased to at least 100 flights per day and there needs to be expansion of srinagar international airport at par with international standards with world class facilities.

The LG gave patient hearing to all issues raised by PHD Chamber and ensured the delegation that the issues raised will be resolved and the UT will see a new horizon of prosperity and development, the PHD Chamber statement said.
