Kashmiri entreprenuer is Global Ambassador for 10,000 Laptops Program

Pune, Feb 7: A Kashmiri social entrepreneur, Dr Babar, has been appointed as the “Global Goodwill Ambassador” for the Digital Daana Initiative and a “Permanent Advisor” to Metta Social, which is a social enterprise, aiming to deliver the seamless exchange of value within the social development ecosystem using cutting-edge technology platforms, a statement issued to Ziraat Times said.

The platform, along with MIT Art, Design and Technology University, has launched a global fundraiser campaign to provide 10,000 laptops to underprivileged children over the next six months. The fundraiser is called “Digital Daana” campaign and is launched after school education became heavily dependent on online mode. The initiative is in response to the digital divide created by the pandemic that could set back the students’ progress by two-three years and may leave a long-lasting negative impact. As blended learning is the future, Digital Daana initiative will run for three years and hopes to reach a large number of deserving students and the campaign is targeted to empower one million students

The board which includes Mr Iftekhar Pathan, Co Founder & President and Mr. Vishal Naik CEO and Co Founder welcomed him on the board. Dr. Babar stated that “Digital Daana” will be a small strategic vehicle through which the Digital India mission of the Prime Minister of India to educate the rural population and to turn India into a Knowledge Economy.

He will be extending invitations to the Global Indian Diaspora, Universities, Schools, Corporations and Philanthropists to actively participate in this noble mission and participate in making “Digital Daana” campaign successful.

Babar, who is a 7 times TEDx Speaker, TED Residency Finalist (NY) has a very keen interest in Child Education in the state of J&K, stated that we obviously can’t ensure the quality and quantity of teachers but we can deliver world class education to children through technology and online means. And Jammu & Kashmir is poised to lead in this transformative journey.
